Our Story
Why are we in Nuevo Rocafuerte?
The PlanetHRC was strategically established in Nuevo Rocafuerte to remain true to its mission of sustainability by utilizing an existing settlement with necessary infrastructure, thereby avoiding environmental harm. Locating the center close to the communities that benefit from its research fosters collaboration and incorporates Indigenous knowledge into global scientific efforts. Additionally, being part of the Franklin Tello Hospital, a renowned healthcare institution, enables a multidisciplinary approach to planetary health, combining clinical care with environmental research. This decision underlines a commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and impactful, inclusive research.
